Another MS70 ANACS Silver Australian Kookaburra??!!

I just received my monthly auto-ship and it was yet another Australian Kookaburra! What the flip! I already have two of these coins, don’t I?

After a little further investigation into my collection, I realized I now have:

1994 MS70 Australian Silver Kookaburra Coin

The Silver Coin of the Month for July 2011 is the 1994 MS70 Australian Silver Kookaburra (see image below).  The Silver Kookaburra coin was first issued in 1990 and this silver coin is one of a few pure silver coins that changes it design from year to year (you can see that below in the images). As you can see from the image below, the 1994 MS70 Australian Silver Kookaburra shows two kookaburras perched on an eucalyptus tree branch.

The obverse side of this coin is the same image for each release and is a depiction of Queen Elizabeth II of England.

One of the interesting points about the Australian Silver Kookaburra coin series is that these coins are from the Perth Mint and this series of coins is limited to only 300,000 coins per year (which in turn, creates high demand).

1993 MS70 Australian Silver Kookaburra Coin

For the month of November 2010, the Silver Coin of the Month was the 1993 MS70 Australian Silver Kookaburra (see image below).  As stated above, the Silver Kookaburra coin was first introduced in 1990 and you can see how the design differs from that of the 1994 and 1992 release.  This series of coins are minted with what is called reverse-proof finish (this means that the fields are frosty and the raised images are mirror-like).

For the month of July 2010, the Silver Coin of the Month was the 1992 MS70 Australian Silver Kookaburra (see image below).  This coin is the third issued in this series and the image on this coin is that of a mother kookaburra sitting on a flowered branch.
