Make the Most of Social Networks When Marketing | social media marketing
Social media marketing can be a very daunting task, especially if you are new to the process.
Knowing what to do and not to do is the key to your success in this area. The tips given in the article below will help you to maximize your return on your social media marketing campaign.
Social Media Marketing Plan
Just as with other marketing campaigns, do your homework and research all the competition you will be facing in your field. There is no end to the possibilities, but this means the same logic applies to your competitors. Know what they are doing and find a way to strengthen your own Social Media Marketing plan through their trial and errors.
The holidays may be a big time of the year, but don’t use the opportunity in the wrong way. It isn’t the best phase to test out new theories or gamble with a big risk. Stick to your proven guns and utilize them in a more customer-friendly manner. You will have all year to plan out a strategy for the next holiday season.
Plan out how much you want social media marketing to help your business, then track all your progress after you have implemented it into your strategies. When you do this, then you have an idea of how much your business is benefiting from social media marketing, and you can adjust your strategies along the way.
Whenever you post something on your blog or update your website, write a Facebook post right away. Perhaps you should plan ahead and write your post in advance so that you are not rushed to do it. Remember that people subscribed to your Facebook posts to be updated about what you are doing.
Always remember what you and others have done in the past. Use these lessons of success and failure to improve your present marketing plan, and thus increase your profits for the future. By doing so, you will remember what does and doesn’t work best when you decide to tackle the web once more.
The holidays aren’t an excuse to neglect your duties as a business owner, but rather to prepare your marketing plan ahead of time and soak up the profits. This is done by establishing a long-range plan before the holiday rush arrives. With a plan in place that is molded to suit the specific holiday, you are guaranteed to bring in a little more than usual.
Devise a plan before attacking social media marketing. Figure out who will manage the pages, what type of layout you want, and how much time you would like to invest into it. Just like any other marketing campaign, have a set timeline to accomplish your goals. Stick to your plan as firmly as you can, and you will find success in social media marketing.
Social media is very popular, but that does not mean you should enter the fray head-first with no plan or safety net. Learn how social media works and the etiquette required, then outline your campaign and begin to build it into reality. If you plan out your strategy and take advantage of the opportunity, it can only increase your chances for success.
Take time when deciding what your overall strategy will incorporate. Get together a strategy that outlines your plan of attack and go forth accordingly.
As stated in the beginning of this article, social media marketing can be difficult if you are unsure of what direction to go. The tips above will be able to guide you in making the right decisions when you begin your social media marketing campaign. Use the tips to find success in your new endeavor.

4 Simple Ways to Use Facebook to Build Your Business
You are using Facebook to build your business, right?
I sure hope so with stats like these:

Facebook is the fastest growing site on the Internet.

Facebook has over 600 million users and it is growing leaps and bounds daily. You can connect with people all over the world.

Facebook is FREE! (our favorite four letter “F” word)
-
The average user has 130 friends.

People spend over 700 billion minutes per month on Facebook.
As you probably already know (but I am going to restate anyways), building a business is all about relationships. To build your business successfully and for the long haul, developing solid relationships is KEY. So how can you do this using Facebook?
Here are four simple ways…
SIMPLE WAY #1
The first way is to find the “right friends”. What do I mean? Find people with the same likes, interests, and activities as you have. How do you do this? What Facebook groups do you belong to? This is a good place to start. Check out the profiles of the people in the same groups as you; do they have similar likes and interests? Are they entrepreneurs like you? Don’t just add friends randomly; do your homework!
When adding new friends, it is imperative you include a personal message. Don’t share links to your business! Just a quick note like,
“Hi Sharon, I see we are both in the Basket Weaving Group . Don’t you just love basket weaving? I look forward to connecting. ~Andie”
That’s it! Just a few quick lines to make your request more personal. NO WEBSITE LINKS!
SIMPLE WAY #2
The second method to my madness is once you have made new friends on Facebook, don’t just sit there. Check out their posts… I mean check them out! Read them, comment on them, share them, and like them. Facebook is not one-sided; it’s a two-way street, it’s interactive, and you need to participate! Make sense?
SIMPLE WAY #3
Thirdly, Facebook has a great feature that I use quite frequently as I am seriously multi-tasking (like we all are!). This is the “Chat” feature that is in the lower right corner of Facebook.
I love this!!! This is a great way to connect with your new friends. While you are on Facebook, check to see which friends are online and chat with them. AGAIN, no links! No links, no links, no links. I am sharing how to build relationships, not how to share links (which I think everyone is pretty well versed at). Here are some things you can ask your new friends:
1) Where are they from? How long have they lived there?
2) What do they do?
3) What do they do for fun or in their spare time?
4) Ask about their family and pets (NOTE: Most people love to talk about their kids AND their pets.) J
To continue to find out more about your new friends, ask questions. This also allows you to control the conversation.
SIMPLE WAY #4
Call them! What?? Don’t freak out. Call them, make a connection, and continue to develop the relationship. You can find their phone number here: 1) Go to the Account Tab in the upper right hand of Facebook and click “Edit Friends”:
Then, click on “Contacts” on the upper left and voilà … phone numbers!!
Your new found friends will be shocked when they hear your voice and name. Keep the conversation short and simple. It’s about connecting and building.
There are other ways to utilize Facebook… these are just a few simple ones. Now, it’s time for massive action. Try them and share your results.

How to Generate 61 Leads Per Day on Facebook
Yes, you read that headline correctly… Double-digit leads every day!
A few weeks ago, I learned about a new strategy that I just have to share. Now, when I first heard about it….I have to tell you, I was a little scared. Yes, I know…. Crazy! Facebook Pay-Per-Click Ads, so I had heard, was the hottest new lead generation strategy. Pay-Per-Click (a.ka. PPC)???? OMG, I had never done PPC before, how could I do this?
So, I was on a webinar a few weeks ago (List Builder Bootcamp webinar – more information on this below), where John Womack (a leader in MLSP) shared his exact strategy and blueprint on how to generate leads using FB PPC. Thank you, John, for sharing!
So, let me share a little timeline with you:
7/9/10 – I created my first ad and submitted it to FB for approval.
7/9/10 – The first ad was approved.
7/12/10 – I created my second ad and submitted it to FB for approval.
7/13/10 – The second ad was approved.
On 7/13/10, I generated 43 leads from FB PPC (see green arrow below).
On 7/14/10, I generated 56 leads from FB PPC (see yellow arrow below).

I cannot believe the quick success that I have achieved with the FB PPC strategy. I am not guaranteeing you will see the same results. However, isn’t it worth a shot? Online Social Marketing - Top Ten Rules
Have you seen The Late Show with David Letterman?
Each episode has a Top Ten List (the very first list was “The Top Ten Things That Almost Rhyme With Peas”). The lists typically have a humorous topic and are based on current events (“Top Ten Money-Saving Valentine Day Tips”, “Top Ten Indianapolis Colts Excuses”, etc.). Well, enough about David Letterman… We are going to review the Top Ten List of Rules for Online Social Marketing.
Are you marketing on Social Media today? What’s your marketing strategy and plan for utilizing Social Media? Are you following all the “rules”? As you know, Social Media is here to stay and to be effective, you must have a game plan for utilizing these technologies. Today, I am going to share the Top 10 List of Rules for being effective in online social marketing. These rules were shared by Terri Murphy (President and founder of WomensWisdomNetwork.com) after she interviewed Paul Chaney, Social Media Expert and author of “The Digital Handshake”. Are you following these today?
Rule #1 – Pull… don’t push.
With new tools (Social Media), there are new rules. You need to know how to engage and remember that old school marketing does not work in today’s world.
Rule #2 – Win the right to be heard.
Add value. Add value. Add value. Share your content. The value of you as a participant is judged by the value you provide. Add value.
Rule #3 – Content is still King, Conversation is Queen, Conversion is the Prince
There is nothing that beats well-written and relevant content, including blog posts, tweets, webinars, and podcasts. Be a knowledgeable expert. And remember, keep content and business separate.
Rule #4 – Authenticity and Transparency
Be real, be open, and be honest. You will make mistakes and that’s okay. When you do make mistakes, admit it, and then move on and improve.
Rule #5 – Don’t have to be on every social network.
You will not survive if you try to be on every network that’s available. It is literally impossible to be everywhere. You need to be where your customers are.
Rule #6 – Give and you shall receive.
I love this quote by Zig Ziglar that Terri Murphy shared, “Adopt an attitude of servitude.” You need to give value freely with NO STRINGS ATTACHED. You will be amazed at how this kind of an attitude will help establish long-lasting and credible relationships.
Rule #7 – Don’t abandon traditional marketing completely.
Most rules in traditional marketing still apply and the key here is how you integrate social media into your marketing plan. Think of it this way… Social Media is just another channel to build your brand and market. Social Media is not a replacement and you need to continue to use multiple marketing methods.
Rule #8 – Social Media is a mindset.
When you are planning your marketing strategy, you need to include Social Media into your thinking. To integrate Social Media into your marketing plan, you must change your strategy and mindset.
Rule #9 – Be yourself.
This is so important… Use a real photo and your real name. People want to relate and trust people with whom they have built a relationship with (not someone with a cartoon character for their profile picture!). Building trust is key in marketing today.
Rule #10 – Social Media is still evolving.
Because Social Media is new and continuing to develop, there is room for testing, tweaking, and new concepts. Continue to test, tweak, and measure your results.
As you know, Social Media is not going anywhere… Use the above Ten Rules to make the best use of your Social Media Marketing.

PeopleString - What the heck is it????!!!
Have you been approached about PeopleString? I have been approached on Facebook, through email, and more. So, I decided to do a little research…
Their motto is PeopleString ‘Where You Own the Web’. This is the newest social society which claims to have the Creativity, Culture, Expressive Forums and places to meet new people and network. What else does it have? It has all of the above AND also provides a share in the income generated by users of the site. Seriously? This is very unique for an online social community. Other features include Email Tracking, Video Emails, 1 on 1 Video Conferencing, Instant Messaging, Self-Destructing Messages (COOL!!!), and much more.
The revenue from memberships, ads, and search and paid placements is distributed to PeopleString members. You are not paid per click; your payment is determined by how many times per month you login.
How do you get started? You sign up for an account and take a survey. Higher payouts are obtained once you upgrade to the Entrepreneurs Package (more on that below). As long as you are an active member (you have to login at least once a month), you will paid. So, are you already online using social media, sending emails, etc.? Would you like to get paid for what you are doing?
I recently had the chance to interview David Hanscom, a member of PeopleString to get the “inside scoop”:
AP: Do you have experience in the network marketing industry?
DH: Yes, I have been a part of Network / Independent Business Marketing for the past 13 years. I have been participating in Online Network Marketing since 2008.
AP: What is PeopleString?
DH: PeopleString is the perfect combination of your favorite email resource, your favorite search engine and your favorite social networking site. What is unique to PeopleString is that they pay you to o the same things you are already doing online anyway. The only shift you have to make is doing those things through PeopleString. A small request to reward you financially for doing so.
AP: How long have you been in PeopleString?
DH: I have been involved with PeopleString since the beginning of October.
AP: Why PeopleString? Why did you join?
DH: Why did I join has a very logical answer. As a consumer I realize that business are shifting billions of advertising dollars towards social networking as they understand it is where there customer base can be found. People are not reading newspapers, they are not watching live TV, they TiVo their favorite shows and then fast forward through the commercials, they listen to satellite radio to eliminate commercials or change the channel on conventional radio when commercials come on. Once you grasp that concept you begin to understand why it is so important to leverage yourself to get paid a percentage of those billions of dollars. Simply put, PeopleString provides you that opportunity.
AP: What level are you at within PeopleString?
DH: I decided to sign up at the Entrepreneur level because I believe in leading by example. This level gives you the best opportunity to maximize your income and PeopleString offers you even more success tools at this level.
AP: What is the compensation structure?
DH: The compensation structure is based on which level you decide to be: Entrepreneur Member: 20% from everyone on your first level and 6% percent on everyone else on levels 2 – 6. Free Member: 5% from everyone on your first level and 2% percent on everyone else on levels 2 – 6. You also get paid through People Points by doing things like reading emails, logging onto your page at least once every 12 hours and doing just about anything you do on your PeopleString pages.
AP: How do you get paid? How is PeopleString making money to share?
DH: You get paid either by check or directly to your PayPal account. Entrepreneur members get paid every 2 weeks and free members get paid once a month. The Minimum payment amount is $25.00. If you do not meet the $25.00 minimum distribution amount, your balance will carry over to your next pay period.
AP: Do you have to pay to join? What are the different options for joining?
DH: You do not have to pay to join but as indicated in the answer about the compensation plan, you get paid significantly higher as an Entrepreneur. You also receive many other benefits that are not public knowledge but are explained to you in webinars, forums, etc. once you become an Entrepreneur. You can also join as a free member and upgrade later on as well. To join as an Entrepreneur, it is $200 for two years.
AP: How have your results been up to this point?
DH: My results have been amazing. I have been building an exciting team. I have temporarily slowed down a bit but only because (as I mentioned before) I believe in leading by example and have spent the last few days building a training website and weekly phone conference specifically dedicated to giving my downline a personal level of guidance and encouragement for success.
AP: How are you generating your leads?
DH: My leads come directly from my relationships on my various social media sites. I have worked hard to build relationships with like-minded individuals and have been sharing this great opportunity with them.
AP: What is the most difficult thing with your PeopleString business?
DH: I have not found one yet…I will be happy to let you know if I ever do LOL…Honestly, it is a great opportunity. Whatever you are doing right now, stop and take two minutes to join my team!
AP: How many people have joined your team since you started in August?
DH: I have over 30 people on my team since the first of October (please edit that in the answer to question #4. I am not sure why I typed “August” I need to get out of my office more LOL). This is not a quick run; it is a steady pace and something that will take a little time to build. The biggest key is to train the people on your team to get the same results you do.
